I rarely read adult historical fiction and this is the first time I read anything from Taylor Jenkins Reid, regardless it still intrigue me. I went in blind not knowing a lot prior to the synopsis……. but here is a little snippet of what it is about.

Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. But when she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job, no one in the journalism community is more astounded than Monique herself. Why her? Why now?

It did started slow, however, it did pick up 50 pages in. The book is written in chapters and alternating of Evelyns life story of one chapter per husband. It is quite enjoyable as she express her feelings about them. I like the character development, especially Evelyn, the way she was from the beginning and towards to the end. The patronage to Hollywood has shown a lot of truth about it, behind the seen that we do not see a lot and it does not make you envious of having the luxury of a rich life.

This is a wonderful well-written book that kept me on the edge of my seat. It kept my interest from the beginning to the end. I like the hint of mystery of why Monique was chose to be the one to listen to her story, which made my curiosity tickled. I did not had any expectations prior to this book, since it is not my genre to begin with, however, I am beyond words of how much I truly enjoyed this book and a hope that I would start to read more something similar to this.
